The Tobermory distillery launches a limited edition of 24 years of expression

Inspired by hundreds of miles of breathtaking Scottish coastline and sea air, the Tobermory Distillery has created a limited edition 24 year old whiskey with an Oloroso cask finish.

It is the first whiskey created under the direction of Cara Gilbert, one of the world’s youngest distillery directors at just 28, who was appointed head of the Tobermory distillery last year.

From the only whiskey distillery on the Isle of Mull, the 24-year maturation is said to be representative of anything found in the Inner Hebrides, an archipelago off the west coast of mainland Scotland.

The distiller’s notes show that being surrounded by shorelines gives Tobermory 24 its coastal characteristics and a warm, salty caramel finish.

The new expression has spent the last nine years resting in Oloroso Gonzales Byass sherry casks.

“We are incredibly proud of this new release and its deep-rooted Mull heritage,” Gilbert said in a prepared statement. “The series is inspired by the unique influences that myself and the team feel from living and working on the beautiful island, crafting our whiskeys by hand. One of the finest releases in our 230 year history , we know this will be a highly sought after collector’s item for fans eager to sample the true taste of Mull.

Tobermory 24-Year-Old will join the distiller’s portfolio along with Tobermory 23-Year-Old, Tobermory 12-Year-Old, Ledaig 10-Year-Old, Ledaig Sinclair Series Rioja Cask Finish and Ledaig 18-Year-Old. Old in the distillery’s range of malts.

It is available for purchase exclusively from Berry Bros & Rudd until March 10, when it will be available on tobermorydistillery.com. The Tobermory 24 has a suggested retail price of £320.
