The Government Hill neighborhood will soon be thanking its lucky stars for the newest comfort food restaurant and whiskey bar inspired by the region’s delicatessen, served by a well-known local restaurateur.
Three Star Bar, the casual new concept from Boulevardier Group owner Jeret Peña, Chef Josh Calderon and local cocktail master Rob Gourlay, will open in July at 521 E. Grayson St. alongside the new dumpling and meat joint. Peña noodles, hello paradise on government hill.
The 7,000-square-foot, 140-seat three-star bar features a full bar, with an emphasis on high quality whiskeys, local beers and a selection of wines. While the menu of dishes has yet to be finalized, it offers accessible yet memorable dishes like appetizer portions of whiskey and maple glazed meatballs, devil eggs, and bean hummus. borracho. The entrees are sandwich-centric and include options of pork, meatballs, and corned beef.
The concept is the latest from Peña, who, in addition to running his restaurant group and business Hello Paradise, is also embarking on the cocktail programs of other local restaurants, including those at Esquire Tavern and House of Má and Hugman’s Oasis on the River.
