BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Northgate’s Rough Draft Whiskey Bar will reopen on Friday after being closed for nine months.
Last fall the building caught fire and Randall Summers, 28, was arrested and charged with two counts of arson.
Since then, the owners have worked to get things going again.
“We rolled up our sleeves, we worked here,” said Kyle Meredith, co-owner. “We have a whole new roof. A brand new air conditioning system. We had a lot of walls to rebuild and all the smoke damage, everything had to be cleaned up from top to bottom. This place was quite difficult.
Meredith says they are excited to bring new and old employees back.
“We trained last week, we will be training this week to get ready and get ready to open this weekend,” said Meredith.
Although they missed serving drinks, Meredith says they’re ready to re-establish community partnerships like donating canned goods to the Brazos Valley Foodbank.
“Yes we are a bar, yes we welcome young professionals and graduate students, but we also want to give back to the community and that is something that we have been lacking to be able to do is give back,” said Meredith.
Meredith says their comeback will be far bigger than their setback, with plans to open more seating and dining options in the near future.
“It’s going to be a fun weekend. It will be a fun summer and it will be an amazing football season, ”said Meredith.
The bar will open Friday at 2 p.m.
