Jeret Peña, the famous San Antonio bar operator, and Augie Cortez, owner of Augie’s Alamo City BBQ Steakhouse, have teamed up to launch a new concept called Brazed Bourbon & Beer inside Augie’s establishment just to the north. from downtown Broadway.

Brazed is primarily a beer and whiskey bar with a menu of pub food and snack foods including breast nachos, pulled pork sliders, breast tostadas, chicken sandwiches, and more. Peña, who was an early pioneer in the cocktail scene in San Antonio, said Brazed will serve a limited number of mixed drinks, instead focusing on a growing range of whiskeys.

The new concept occupies a separate space within Augie’s and includes a patio with plenty of outdoor seating. Brazed is not part of the family of bars in the Boulevardier de Peña group, which includes the famous cocktail bars The Brooklynite, The Last Word, Still Golden Social House and others, all of which have closed.

Brased is in a phase of smooth opening and the exact operating hours have not yet been defined. Peña said the bar is currently open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Brazed is located inside Augie’s Alamo City BBQ Steakhouse at 909 Broadway. More at 210-314-3596,
